Pull back sharply on the handle to wrench the board from its place.
How to floor pull successfully.
Wipe down the floor with a rag moistened with water.
Assuming you ve sawed the boards into small enough sections they should pop right out.
Solid debris can leave scratches on the floor if you fail to remove it before mopping.
Once the rag has been soiled with the old finish rinse it in clean water.
Check the floor to make sure it s nice and level and do any necessary work level the subfloor if you have to go around and knock down any old nail heads or remove any staples or things sticking up from the floor and then thoroughly clean the area with a shop vac.
Use a pry bar to pull up the boards.
Wedge the tip of the pry bar underneath a section of flooring.
For proper installation the subfloor or old flooring surface must be flat smooth and clean.
Repeat this process until all the flooring has been removed.
Laminate flooring can usually be installed successfully right over old floor coverings such as sheet vinyl provided the surface is flat and smooth and not soft or cushiony.
Sweep or vacuum the floor before mopping.
Remove as much of the old finish and dust as possible.
As such you ll need to use a broom hardwood floor vacuum or handheld vacuum to clean up the floor before mopping it.
Most mops do a poor job of picking up crumbs hair and other forms of solid debris.
Also remove any existing baseboard moldings in the room.
